The world is full of amazing places to visit with wonderful cultures to explore. There are, however, some places on earth that are so spectacular that you just need to visit them and experience everything they have to offer. Here are a few such places.

Thessaly, Greece

Greece is a beautiful country steep in a rich cultural history with luscious landscapes. Thessaly though, houses something particularly amazing. There were almost dozen Greek Orthodox monasteries built atop the various hills and mountains on the island. These Metéora monasteries were built in the 14th century, but only six are still standing. You can tour all the current monasteries, but it will take a few days and a lot of walking and climbing stairs. Visiting them all can be a wonderful challenge as you will great sights from atop the hills and inside the monasteries themselves. However, don’t forget to visit the Great Meteoron Monastery as this is the oldest of the lot and resides at the highest altitude. Few places in the world have something quite like these monasteries and the fantastic spectacle that comes with visiting each one.

The Maldives are gorgeous; there is no question. The beaches are beautiful, and the jungle is brimming with life. Maras, Peru is home to ancient salt mines that date back to pre-Inca times. The mere sight of them is spectacle enough, but when you learn about the historic salt refining process which locals still use to this day and immerse yourself in the culture and history of this place, then it just gets even better. You are able to walk along the salt pools and observe this one of a kind sight. It is the combination of visual amazement and historical fascination that makes Maras, Peru such a spectacle that you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit. There is nothing else like it in the entire world.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

There is something otherworldly about the blue-tinged mountains of Chefchaouen, Morocco. They need to be seen to be believed, and this same bright color is brought to the streets through spices, plates and other fantastic items. The soft blue of the mountains looks like it has been poured throughout Chefchaouen. It fills the buildings, pathways and sights of this amazing town. If you ever get the chance to visit this spectacular Moroccan town, then you should jump at the chance to experience a world hued in a blue and packed other vibrant colors and people.
