What To Pack In Your Suitcase When Traveling Somewhere Hot

Packing your suitcase is everyone’s least favorite part of travel preparations. Especially if you have a long trip ahead of you, and need to remember lots of things. Not only that, but you have to ensure you don’t go over the weight limit and risk paying extra for your luggage.

Having said that, it’s always better to overpack instead of underpack – overpacking at least makes it less likely you’ll forget something. Today, we take a peek at your suitcase to see what you need to remember when journeying to a hot country. Find out all the things you need in the points below:

Sun Protection

When traveling to a hot country, you need to be very wary of the sun. It may seem like your best friend, giving you a nice tan, but the sun is your enemy. It’s UV rays can seriously damage your skin, meaning you need to stay protected. Make sure you don’t leave home without a suitcase full of things to stop the sun from damaging your skin.

In your suitcase, you need to half sunscreen first and foremost. Get one with a high SPF factor, I will say no less than 30 SPF. This may seem high for some of you, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. If you’re away for a few weeks, then you’ll tan well even with this added protection. It’s also a good idea to have one for your body and one that’s specifically for your face. Then, bring some aftersun or a lotion to hydrate your skin. Regardless of what brand you choose, we suggest that it contains aloe vera extract. This is proven to help repair damaged skin, keeping you protected even when you come inside.

Appropriate Clothing

Remember, you’re going to a hot country here, so there are certain clothes you should bring and some you should leave at home. Right off the bat, you can wave goodbye to all your jumpers, heavy coats, and hoodies. Leave them at home, they have no place with you in a hot country.

Instead, you’re looking to pack clothes that are nice and light, normally in quite light colors too, and will help you feel comfortable in the heat. For women, think about packing a few sundresses and bikinis. For guys, pack some tank tops and swim shorts. Of course, everyone should also pack things like shorts, t-shirts, hats, sunglasses, and flip flops/sandals. It’s also suggested you bring a lightweight coat just in case it happens to rain on one occasion. Hopefully, you’ll never need to use it, but you should bring it just in case.

Medical Kit

Wherever you go on your travels, you should always pack a med kit full of things to help you when situations turn sour. This is even more important when you travel to a very hot country and end up in the heat for hours. You need things in your bag to help treat any heat-related illnesses and get you back to your best.

In your kit, you should pack some painkillers like paracetamol, which can help with headaches you might get from being out in the sun too much. The most important medical item is a pack of hydration powder/packets. These are little packets of powder you can add to water that will help hydrate you by supplying your body with loads of electrolytes. Absolutely essential if you suffer from dehydration. Also, you could consider packing bandages to cover any burns if your skin gets damaged.

Some Extras…

While the above points detail some of the main things you should bring, there are a couple of extras that are well worth packing if you have room. The first of which is a fan of some sorts to keep you cool. You can buy some cheap little battery-powered fans that are small but pack a real punch. Switch them on, and you can hold a fan to your face, which will help you cool down in the blazing heat. Or, go old school and bring a hand-held fan to flap away at your face.

Lastly, consider bringing your own water bottle with you. This gives you something you can fill up with a lot of water and take with you wherever you go. Plus, your bottle might be bigger than regular bottles, but still small enough to carry around with you. Also, having your own bottle helps you get in the habit of drinking more water.

If you’re traveling to a hot country shortly, pay attention to these suitcase packing tips. They’ll help you stay comfortable and safe while you’re basking in the sun.
