After incumbent President Barack Obama’s visit to Cuba recently, a lot of folks have begun to realise that this is the beginning of the end. With the U.S Presidential Election pencilled in for November 8th, 2016, Obama doesn’t have long left in his eight-year reign! Of course, the twenty-second amendment prevents America’s first black President for running again. It would be his third term. Therefore, it looks to be a straight battle between two candidates. Democrat, Hillary Clinton, and controversial Republican, Donald Trump. Here are five reasons why this U.S Presidential Election is going to be simply crazy!

  1. The U.S Political System

Unlike in other countries, the United States of America has a very unique way of doing things! The whole campaigning process is like no other – they really make a big deal out of it! Therefore, it’s probably best to get up to speed with U.S politics to prevent this whole ordeal going over your head. Get started by checking out the 3 branches of government, and things should seem a little less crazy for you! It’s hard to beat the dramatic entertainment of the ‘Road to the White House’, so kick back, whack on the news and drink it in! This should be one mental ride in 2016!

  1. Donald Trump

Quite simply, just one of the candidates is going to make this election crazier than any ever before it! Trump, if elected, would be the first U.S President to come from a background of never having held any position in public office. He’s not even held high-rank in the U.S military. This is almost unheard of! If you don’t know Donald Trump, then he is the man behind the whole Trump Empire – he’s extremely wealthy! That, in itself, may put off the less fortunate voters. There is one really crazy thing he has claimed that he would instigate. This is a temporary ban on Muslims entering the U.S, largely due to recent ISIS attacks across the globe.

Hillary Clinton

  1. Hillary Clinton

The opposition to Trump is former First Lady, Hillary Clinton. Many are saying that she’s probably going to win the whole thing. However, it is not a foregone conclusion, as much as it may seem so when you look at the campaign currently being run by Donald Trump. She’ll win providing nothing drastic happens like a complete economic turndown or, worse, a recession. Clinton should be the level-head that keeps all the craziness of this election at bay. She wants to give women equal pay, make college more affordable for all, and instill a living wage, as the government has recently done in the U.K!

Hopefully, this post has cleared up the U.S election a bit for you – it is a bit tricky! It’s certainly going to be a crazy one. Lots of mental campaigning, hotly-contested debates, and broken promises are to come. So, as an onlooker, sit back and enjoy it all as it unfolds. We can’t wait!
