Undeniable Reasons You’re A Fully-Fledged Nomophobe

If you are not sure what it means, the dictionary describes nomophobia as the irrational fear of being without a phone. A couple of decades ago, this phobia didn’t exist. In fact, people would have laughed in your face should have declared it in public. Fast forward to 2018 and not only is it real, but it’s growing larger and larger. The only way to beat an addiction is to understand why it grips you in the first place. So, with that in mind, here are the common reasons nomophobes exist and why you may be one.

nomophobia

The Phantom Message

Nearly two-thirds of phone users admit to hearing a call that didn’t happen. On a grander scale, more than three-quarters of people thought their phone vibrated when it didn’t. There are studies to show that this is a person’s brain systems functioning perfectly; however, that isn’t the whole story. Alternative research proves that those of us who suffer from phantom messages are smartphone crazy. In basic terms, you want to hear or feel something, so your brain tells you it is happening. Your attachment to your phone is so great that you need to use it minute after minute.

Cut Off

Does the idea of being without a mobile make you stressed or incomplete? It sounds over the top, yet 10 million Britons admit to feeling this sensation. The reason is that an iPhone is a gateway to communication. Without access to a phone, it’s as if there is no way to talk to people and soak up information. Without Mobile Computer Repair, the feeling gets greater because the device is the main means of contact for a 21st-century person. When you put this together with FOMO, the fear only increases. (FOMO = Fear Of Missing Out)

More Than One

Even in this technological society, it’s weird to carry multiple phones. Well, that is unless you are a drug dealer. In that case, the game is the game. All jokes aside, there is no legitimate reason to have more than one smartphone in your pocket. Devices are that small and powerful these days that there is enough memory for a singular handset. Anyway, there isn’t much you have to go on-the-go that can’t wait until you get home. Multiple handsets are a sign that your addiction is growing day by day unless there is a genuine reason.

Mobile Charger

Phones are potent, yet they are not energy-efficient. Thanks to the number of apps, a normal smartphone will lose its charge in a matter of hours. The thought of being without a working device causes nomophobes to take action. So, to avoid the unbearable situation, you may carry a charger with you wherever you go. That way, you can plug it into a socket and reconnect within thirty minutes. Because a day without a phone is unthinkable, addicts need a backup plan just in case.

The world is reliant on smart devices now and will be for a long while. But, has over-reliance caused you to become addicted?
