You might have heard that the job market is competitive. It can take up to a year to get a job in an industry that you have trained for. While that’s true, there’s always the other side of things to consider. In some industries, there is a serious shortage of labour, and that’s what you should consider when selecting your own career path. So where is labour not meeting the demand?
Dentistry
If you want to be a dentist you’re in luck, there are plenty of jobs to go around. Indeed, it’s true to say that you can spend up to a year on a waiting list when you’re looking for a new dentist these days. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s in the public sector where supply is dwindling and for good reason. We all know private is where the money is being made.
Teaching
Teaching numbers have plummeted in recent years. It’s quite shocking when you consider some of the key benefits of being a teacher. Our favourite factor to take into account here would be the holidays. As a teacher, you can get some of the largest holidays out of any full-time careers. When the kids are out of school, so are you. The pay isn’t too bad either, and you can earn well above the average wage.
Midwives
Perhaps the reason for the midwife shortage is because it’s still a career predominantly for females. Unfortunately, these days a lot of women have greater aspirations than simply delivering babies. But this can still be a rewarding career. Many midwives describe their job as handing out personal miracles to new parents. You can find out more about this in the infographic below.
