Violent Crimes Have Reached An All Time High In New Age Of Fear

If you read the news, this report should come as no shock to you. It’s difficult to get through one paper or visit one news site without being hit by a new shocking story of a violent crime. Now we know why. The numbers of violent crimes are on the rise and have reached a new extreme level. In fact, violent crimes have jumped up twenty-seven percent with new figures released. That’s a massive leap and it’s important we take note of this. We need to make sure that we are taking the measures to protect ourselves and our families.

Crime Scene

Violent crimes include everything from rape to murder. But it’s crucial to realise that home invasions can be a part of this as well. We’d like to believe that burglaries rarely happen. If they do, it would be nice to think that we can at least rest easy knowing people won’t be in the home when trespassers break in. But this isn’t always true. In fact, it’s become common for home invaders to enter the property when a family is asleep in bed. There are two reasons for this. The first is that they know home owners aren’t prepared for this type of breakin. If it happens, it’s highly likely they will have time to call the authorities before the criminals get inside. The second reason relates to the rise in violent crimes. There’s no guarantee that they are breaking in to steal from you. They could have far more sadistic reasons for the intrusion. While this is a scary truth, it’s important to be prepared.

Neighbourhood Watch Zones

Perhaps one of the best deterrents against a home break in is a neighbourhood watch zone. If you live in a neighbourhood watch zone, there’s a good chance someone will notice suspicious activity on your property. Essentially it means you live in area where neighbours know to watch out for each other. It’s unlikely that a criminal will risk breaking into a house in a neighbourhood watch zone. If you’re buying a house right now, this is a consideration that you should be making.

Smart Security

Here’s another worrying statistic. There are statistically 25 property crimes for every thousand residents. You might think those numbers are quite small. But do you really want to play those odds? Remember, with rise in violent crimes you could be putting your family in serious danger. That’s why it’s best to think about the best home security features on the market. Security cameras, hi tech alarm systems and smart locks are all possibilities you may want to consider.

Taking Chances

You shouldn’t take any chances with the security of your home. As this increase in crime shows, we are no longer living in an age where keeping your door unlocked is safe. But another statistic shows this behaviour is shockingly common. Recent checks by police showed a worryingly high number of homes had been left unlocked. At this point, these homeowners are asking for a crime to occur.
These statistics show people must be vigilant when protecting themselves and their family.
