The Moto X 2016 expected to be unveiled in the second half of the year is once again in the news with photos surfacing of a prototype design of the device showing off a metal body. The leaked photo also displays a much bigger camera lens than is usually present on Moto devices.
Popular tipster Evan Blass shared the photo of the prototype on Twitter but cautions that the model that ultimately will be retailed may look different.
The photo also shows the camera lens bearing a ‘Moto’ imprint on it. Three side buttons can be seen shifted to the right side of the phone with no button visible on the left. The shape also looks more square-oriented than older Motorola models which had much rounder edges.
As for the features and specs of the phone, a couple of days back a Motorola model code-named XT1650 appeared on benchmarking site Geekbench. It listed the phone containing a Snapdragon 820 chip featuring a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.59GHz. The Snapdragon 820 is the most popular chipset being used by smartphone manufacturers this year for flagship devices and comes with an Adreno 530 GPU that accounts for an additional 40% improvement in the graphics department along with 30% better power efficiency than its predecessors.
The device is also expected to run on 4GB of RAM and sport a 5.7-inch screen. The camera as predicted earlier will be 21-MP capacity for the rear side and the front snapper will be a 5-MP camera. The battery is expected to hold a capacity of 3,000 mAh.
There is no clarity yet on the release date of the device but some rumours previously pointed towards a June 9 launch. The Moto X may be launched side-by-side, preceded or even succeeded by the launches of Moto G 2016 and Moto E 2016.
